Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd(BPCL) has been supporting Sports and
Sportspersons in various disciplines by way of providing security,
extending financial assistance for their participation in tournaments
abroad, sending them for coaching camps to enhance their skills in the
chosen area, in India or abroad and also providing them with the latest
equipment and kits to excel in all National/ International Level
tournaments.
To award Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd Sports Scholarship to promising young players with the sole purpose of promoting talent, augmenting current pool of players in PSPB/other events and creating a feeder cadre for the Corporation to recruit sports person for respective Sports discipline.
2. Duration of sports scholarship:
Duration: 3 years @ 1 year each, extendable from year to year.
On completion of duration of one year Sports Scholarship period, the performance of the player(s) will be reviewed based on their performance in the State Level/ National level tournament and All India Ranking tournaments for juniors and sub juniors. Based on this and the recommendation of experts in the field, the extension for the second year will be granted. Similarly, evaluation criteria will be followed for extension to the third year, based on the performance review at the end of the second year.
3. Value of scholarship:
Monthly stipend: Rs. 10,000.00 per /Month.
In addition to the above, the sports scholar would be supplied annually respective sports kit items and as per eligibility of the Sports Persons from respective disciplines.
The following players from BPCL selected to participate in the Olympics 2012 at London.

5. Birendra Lakra Hockey
Over a period of time, Sportsl, has
become a major activity in the country. BPCL has done exceedingly well
on the Sports front by recruiting and giving our country some of the
best talents in the respective disciplines. Many of the sportspersons
have been recruited by the Corporation first and then gone on to
represent India in their respective disciplines. The focus of the
Corporation has also expanded from winning PSPB hosted tournaments to
nurturing and providing talented sportspersons to the country.
BPCLs overall emphasis would be on molding players into potential
champions of future. Hence the sports scholarship scheme is one small
step towards achieving this goal.
