Name: Small Research Grants for Patient Safety

Range of Funding: US$10,000 – US$ 25,000 per grant (may be renewable)

Deadline: 30 September 2008

Objectives:
1) to increase research on patient safety for small research projects, to be initiated in 2009, achieved within 12-18 months;
2) to build local capacity for research on patient safety in developing countries and countries with economies in transition, and especially encourage young researchers and those in early or mid-career
3) to promote the culture of patient safety by improving dissemination of research findings

Eligibility:
Institutions including universities or other research and academic centres, hospitals, community based organizations, nongovernmental organizations, government departments and collaborating centres. The principal investigator must be affiliated to a recognized institution in the country in which the research project will be conducted. Rsearchers at all stages of their career, from all countries are eligible.


Priorities and special consideration will be given to:
1) young researchers,
2) applications from developing countries and countries with economies in transition,
3) collaborative research projects (within the same country or between countries),
4) combination of the efforts of researchers and clinicians, health care professionals or policymakers
